Maybe be can greet you as volunteer on the NamKhan Eco Farm in Luang Prabang as a Volunteer on day.
I spent 3 wonderful weeks working at this project and I can’t recommend it highly enough. The project is sustainable over the long term and ultimately benefits the local environment, economy and above all the well being and social cohesion of the local people. Volunteer here and you won’t regret it….use your current skills or discover skills you didn’t realize you had! Experience great camaraderie with the other volunteers, emerge yourself in local culture but most importantly, make a valuable long term contribution to Laos and it’s beautiful people!
I spent two incredible weeks working in this Project, and I was getting so used to the atmosphere, the locals and the other volunteers that it was very hard for me to leave. There are so many different activities and tasks, that any skills and talent you might have is more than welcome in this project. I would definitely recommend this to anyone willing to experience the local life in Luang Prabang
This was our first workaway and we can say that it was a great experience from the first day on. We were working side by side with the locals and Xisca made sure that we felt at home. The meals were delicious and we also could cook for ourselves. The project is really important and gives the locals real opportunities of learning and improvements on their skills. We believe that if you are traveling with the idea of really getting to know the local ways this is the place for you. The farm is really beautiful and you can enjoy nice baths on the river. We also were lucky to share this experience with really nice volunteers who will stay in our hearts for ever. Thank you Xisca and Paul
I have stayed in the Project for over 3 weeks between November and December 2017. And it was beyond amazing! The project strives to incorporate and invigorate the local community, which is a very noble cause to contribute to – it’s not just another resort or purely touristic place. The owners are really sweet people who really try to do everything to make the volunteers feel welcome and free to take initiatives. There is a various range of jobs that we could contribute to – building, carpentry, gardening, teaching etc.
So no matter what skills you are bring with you or which skills you want to develop further there is plenty of opportunities to do so! I personally loved the fact that we worked not only with volunteers from all over the world but also with many local Lao people. We worked together, we ate together and we partied together afterwards so there is a really sense of community there between everyone. I could see Laos with their eyes and get a glimpse of their culture and language. The work hours are relatively short and after work we had a lot of fun all together playing guitars, laughing, swimming in the Nam Khan river, exploring the city and many more !!!
The big plus – it’s VEGAN friendly and the food is delicious !!!
All in all it was a remarkable experience, especially considering it was my first workaway. I hope I would be able to come back one day and see how the project is progressing. I would definitely recommend the project to all the backpackers out there who want to see the real Lao culture and want to contribute to growth of the local community!!!
