Wat Sop Sickharam

The Wat Sop Sickharam is at the central avenue of  Luang Prabang in Laos. The temple has a marked of blue and green glazed of a stupa. It has an intricate and traditional Buddhist architecture, and a gold-plated statue of Buddha and other little images of old Buddha lay inside the temple. The Wat Sop Sicharam has a paint of white, red, and gold color adorning on its multi-layered roof. Outside the temple is a peaceful garden, perfect to enjoy some quiet time.

Wat Sop Sicharam

The Wat Sop Sicharam located on Sakkaline Road, Luang Prabang is a great place and venue because of its beautiful atmosphere. To reach the temple, first turn to the Kitsalat Road and straightly follow until 125 meters. Then, just right off the Ratsavong road, continue until 350 meters to the Phousi road and 400 meters to Kingkitsarath road within 450 meters. Afterwards, turn left and extend up to 60 meters. At last, set to Sakkaline road and within 30 meters, the beautiful wat lays.

Working Synagogue

Based on the record, the Wat Sop Sickharam was built when the former monarch, King Chakkraphat in Phen Peo was cremated. The Wat opening hours start at 8:00 a.m to 5:00 p.m. Many lanterns are hanging from the entrance of Wat Sop Sicharam to its main hall. It is also a working synagogue, and a school, so several monks are around in the temple. It is also a decent place to watch the alms giving ceremony because there are not many tourists in the area. Moreover, since the temple is not so much a target of a visit compared with other temples in the city, there is a significant possibility to benefit from the tranquility of nature and to enjoy the entire artworks.

Even though the temple is not a World Heritage site, many people find the Wat Sop Sicharam an all-time favorite temple to visit because of its environment. It is very calming and beautiful. In fact, it also one of the 10 Most Famous Temples of Laos. Going to Wat Sop Sickharam if just touring within Luang Prabang is worth it. There are also Buddha images and monks in the temple the same way it has in other temples. It is relaxing to visit because it does not get hordes of tourists, so it has no crowd.
